About Air Astana
Air Astana is the national flag carrier of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headquartered in Almaty with a secondary hub in Astana. The airline operates of fleet of over 30 Airbus A320s and A321s, Boeing 757s and 767s, and Embraer 190s from its two hubs to over 60 domestic and international routes. Since 2013, Air Astana has received the yearly Skytrax award for Best Airline in Central Asia and India.
Air Astana employs over 500 pilots, a third of whom are expats. We currently have over 20 expat pilots on contract with Air Astana.
Lying in the country’s mountainous Southern region, Almaty is Kazakhstan’s largest city with a population of 1.8 million. A modern city, it is both the cultural and commercial heart of Kazakhstan and is home to a significant expat community.
The city has a humid continental climate with hot summers and cold winters.
Since becoming the capital of Kazakhstan in 1997, Astana has become one of the most modernised cities in Central Asia. With a population of just over 1 million people, it is the second largest city in Kazakhstan. The skyline features many futuristic buildings and hotels, and the city is also home to fantastic health and education systems.
As with Almaty, Astana has hot summers and cold winters.
